It is a privilege to be chosen to represent Florida FCCLA's delegation as             President-Elect.

My main goal as President-Elect is to increase Florida's membership.  The only way this can be accomplished is by working together as a whole; members, advisors, and state officers.

We have designed a new state membership goal:

ADD 7 new members, 4 of which will hopefully be MALE members

Here are some facts about your state…

As of 4/14/08 Florida has a total of:

9,003 members
717 males
8,286 females
and
163 chapters

So as you can see our male membership total is lacking; with a ratio of
12 girls : 1 guy

If all 163 chapters were to complete their goal of adding 4 male members, in all we would add 652 members to our current 717 total, giving us a new total of
1,369 male members.
Not forgetting our female members, if each chapter were to add 3 female members we would have a new female total of 8,775 members.

THE TWO TOTALS TOGETHER would give us an OVERALL membership total of 10,144 members, WHICH IS OUR TOTAL MEMBERSHIP GOAL for the 2008-2009 year.

Here are a few ways that you can add to your chapter and reach the state goal.
1. WORD OF MOUTH
2. Advertisements
3. FCCLA breakfast parties- invite nonmembers
4. Participate in FCCLA week - MARK your calendars
5. Get involved with your sports - Give popsicles, water, etc before or after games. - this will be great for new male members
6. GET YOUR BOYFRIENDS/GIRLFRIENDS involved
7. FRESHMAN orientation
8. LOCKER LETTERS slips of paper saying join FCCLA or other neat slogans- "smartie" handouts be a smarty join FCCLA with a piece of candy attached.
9. Bulletin board with pictures from state and nationals etc.
10. Give doughnuts at break time meetings
